59 (Huddersfield) Squadron is part of the Air Training Corps, one of the largest youth voluntary groups in the UK. Everyone who works at the Squadron is a volunteer, as a civilian, adult non-commissioned officer or as commissioned officer within the RAF Volunteer Reserve (Training Branch).

Lightpath has been providing media support since 2002. This includes news releases, photography and management of the Squadron’s web site.

In 2006, the Squadron was short-listed for two awards:

• CIPR/5th Estate 15th Anniversary Awards (Best in-house team - Emma and Gary are both members of the Squadron)
• CIPR Yorkshire & Lincolnshire PRide Awards (Use of Photography, design or New Media - for the Squadron’s web site)

Both nominations helped raise the profile of the Squadron outside its usual target areas.
